Palmetto Island State Park

This is what breakfast looks like!
What?  Another "Gater Alley"!

Palmetto Island State Park in East Texas
While biking - we saw a bear!
Canoeing-we saw alligators and a beaver!
Nice campground!   Spend most of the day canoeing the lagoons and canoe trail and then the Vermillion River.  Did laundry and showered every morning!! What a luxury!!

We saw this big guy the day before
as we biked around the campgrounds and lagoons.
He was swimming then.

Swimming Alligater!  Just a little thing.

Can you see the alligator just to my right??!!
Can we get any closer?

The only wild pig we saw

The sluice we had to portage around
to get to the Vermillion River.

My dream house: on a river with a rope swing!
A little creepy....ok, a lot creepy

New Orleans

Emerald Coast

Heading to New Orleans!
Up at 6:45ish, oh so Early. Batten down the hatches and we're off!  Devotions on the way.  The devotion today was that we shouldn't look to find answers in the Bible (only) but use the Bible to increase our relationship with God by knowing the one who spoke the words in the first place.

Stopped at Wright Lake Campground to "dump", I'm going to have to get a better term for that action.
Down to the coast (Golf) and East Point and Apalachicola.
The gulf was like glass, oh to water ski!  AND a dolphin 🐬!  Saw a guy crabbing I believe. Every pelican in the area was around his boat or flying to it, maybe 20 or more.
Onward to the emerald coast also known as the redneck riviera.
Breakfast at Jeanie's one stop… great breakfast 🍳 blueberry pancakes eggs and real hash browns. Now what I didn't put in the yelp review...Bathrooms right off the dining area with a cracked soft seat! 😳.

Need to come back and visit Flora-nana lounge and oyster bar. There's a Wyndham at Panama Beach!!  The best water ever!!!!  Already planning on returning!  On to Alabama and Mississippi!
Wyndham La Belle Maison

Oysters at Royal House

Then......New Orleans!

We had a wonderful time in New Orleans. We stayed in Wyndham La Belle Maison. We were able to park the van right out the back door of the hotel, how lucky. Walked all over the French Quarter, and the market, took the street car up to the cemeteries and City Park and then over to Tulane University where we had thin fried catfish and watched the 1st half of the Super Bowl. Then back to the Wyndham to watch the rest of the game, great game. Heading west and will see Jeff, Rachel and Roman in about 10 days.
