San Antonio, TX

We can't believe it's only February, this retired life sure stretches out the days. We seem to be able to do a lot more in one day then ever before! We are in San Antonio now visiting our oldest's family. Then on to Big Bend National Park, Guadalupe Mt National Park, Carlsbad Cavern, Josiah Tree National Park and Death Valley. Having fun! Enjoying this country that God has for us to discover.

Blazing Star RV Resort
Didn't spend much more than 2 nights here… we would get up every morning, go around the corner to "the corner store" and get coffee then drive the 4 miles to Jeff & Rachel's apartment. 3 of the 4 days we were here both Jeff and Rachel were working and we watched Roman. Then we'd return to the RV park and watch a bit of tv and then to sleep to start all over again.

The next week we stayed (and when I say stayed I mean we parked the van and slept), in the back parking lot of Jeff and Rachel's apartment complex. A short 5 minute walk to their door. How convenient
! Roman become very familiar with where the van was by our many walks and many visits to "shop". He was quick to find graham crackers, rice crackers, marshmallows and m & m's 😄, even when grandpa rearranged the cabinets.

One of the days both Rachel & Jeff worked, we went to a park and biked about 5 miles towing both Roman and Kirby in a trailer. There's a bike path here that circles the city, with miles and miles of paved path.  Very nice!  We then played on the playground and had lunch on a bench.

Of course Roman went swimming!

Most days we took walks with and without his tricycle. He sure knows his way around the apartment complex and has his routine when it comes to going for a walk. He loves the hills and gets moving pretty fast for a two year old.

While we were there we went out to several local restaurants; at The Block we got burgers at Crazy Carl's food truck and Empanadas at another (there were lots of games to entertain Roman, he especially liked the ATM), Wild Goji for Rachel's birthday, Smoke Shack for BBQ and the Pig Pen, out back of the Smoke Shack, for drinks and a play ground for Roman,

At Dallah Mediterranean we had dinner and Turkish coffee and we read our fortunes in the grounds when we were finished, Urban Brick for great pizza, Hops and Vine for some local beers and Kolache Factory and Mad Hatters Tea House Cafe for breakfasts!

Rachel, Roman, Jim and I went to the little town of Bandara and had coffee at a coffee shop and so so pizza at Cowboy Pizza. We also wondered the streets, chased ducks, played on a playground and rescued Roman from the clink.  Then wondered our way home by way of Medina Lake.

Mostly we enjoyed lots of time with the Texas Stave's!

Happy Birthday Rachel!
