Went to Goose Island State Park and saw the "big tree", lots of pelicans and a deer (we thought it was a statue at first). Had a snack at Moondog and watched the oyster boats come in and unload their catch. We had hoped to see the Whopping Cranes but no luck, well, maybe we saw one or two way off in the distance.....

| Nothing like breakfast in bed! On the beach is a bonus! |
Biked about 6 miles on the beach, up to the jetty where we saw dolphins, sea turtles and surfers. Then back.
Decided to go down and check out Padre Island National Seashore. It's just south of Mustang Island. You can still camp right on the beach with no facilities. We spent 2 night there and both days went back to the State Park and showered.
Stopped at the Mataquite pavilion and picked up a book about a coyote swallowing a flea (When in Huston Terry and her Grandson sang the song "There was an Old Woman that Swallowed a Fly" while we went on walks). Thought they might enjoy this book.
Biked a couple miles down the beach, the wind was tough, glad we went against it first and then with it coming back. Next day went to McDonald's for wifi and coffee and walked a natural trail on the way back to the beach. Yes, I had to get in for some swimming!!
South Padre island-
There wasn't much to see along the way. Very depressed areas with very brown flat lands. As always as you get to the water/islands the brown water and marsh lands open up to palms and sand and blue/green water. Somehow better!
Jeff and Rachel are on the way!!! Stopped at the laundromat, then the KOA for propane, dumping and water. The propane we paid for, the water and the dump… well we pulled into a vacant spot and hooked up! Yes, yes we are pirates! We did ask the guy that filled the propane and he seemed to say just go ahead and use the dump and couldn't really verbalize about the water, oh well, we managed!!
On to the grocery store…waiting until 4:30 so we don't have to pay to get back on the beach. Always trying to save money!
